Re: Sky Anytime + (PLUS) roll out update

Having had a look at this page - Sky Anytime+ - TV on demand from Sky – Register for the latest news updates now -it seems that Anytime+ is replacing Anytime. Is this true? If it is, then it is going to be another swipe at those who are not on Sky Broadband and have an upgraded box. It appears they will loose Anytime and get nothing to replace it. That does not seem right.

Has anyone with the smaller Amstrad box received the update, or is it confined to those with the 1Tb box?

I am still waiting on an upgrade to my Samsung box.

Re: Sky Anytime + (PLUS) roll out update

I read somewhere (Tech Radar trial I think) that anytime+ still has the 'push' downloaded stuff as well as on demand. It would make sense to keep it backwards compatible with older boxes, remember they still have anytime on all the original Sky+ boxes as well.

Re: Sky Anytime + (PLUS) roll out update

Anytime+ has a section called Showcase, and this is just a new name for the existing Anytime service where the content will be pushed to the boxes via satellite, just as it is now.

Re: Sky Anytime + (PLUS) roll out update

They said they would charge a "nominal fee" for the wireless adapter yet as predicted it is going to cost 60, what a bunch of robbing *********

I think I will stay with my current ISP as its a lot cheaper and give this a miss, I will not be paying 60 they get enough money out of me as it is.

Re: Sky Anytime + (PLUS) roll out update

Just read this on Sky Anytime+ (SkyAnytimePlus) on Twitter:

SkyBB users - to access Anytime+ when it launches, you must be using the official Sky router. Firmwares are being updated at present.
So not only have we got boxes locking up, I can now look forward to getting a screwed up router as well...

Re: Sky Anytime + (PLUS) roll out update

Has anyone had their routers updated recently? If they haven't they are leaving it a bit late are they not? It is quite possible the crippled Sky firmware needs this update to work, whereas a standard router wont. I would not surprise me if this is another red herring, put out to keep those who don't have Sky broadband quiet. Those who are using their own router and have an updated box will find out on Tuesday I suppose. Tuesday seems a strange day to start the roll out.

Re: Sky Anytime + (PLUS) roll out update

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. My router still has the 1.9 Sky software but my box is connected and showing OK, so I'll log in to the Sky website on Tuesday and see what happens!!
