Olympic 3D feeds
I have a new Samsung DS8000 which is great in 3d plus Sky of course.
I see that both the BBC and Sky via Eurosport are showing the opening ceremony.
Will the feed be the same?
I want to record one as well as a standard HD feed for later comparison but Sky only records two!
Thanks

Re: Olympic 3D feeds
I'm recording the BBC 3D feed (Freeview) on a USB drive connected to my ES8000 to check that quality.

Great idea. I had better test this first. There are so many goodies on this TV! Mind you lots of firmware updates too.

Re: Olympic 3D feeds
I was going to suggest that you record the Sky 3D broadcast (Eurosport) and also either the BBC 1 HD or BBC HD (in 3D) broadcast on the Sky STB. Then you are free to watch the other BBC channel by tuning in to Freeview (BBC1 HD= 50, BBC HD=54). The decision then is whether to watch the opening ceremony in 2D or 3D!
As for the content, normal practise is to have the main feed from one source, with each station having access to a few of their own cameras. Of course the commentary will also be different.

Re: Olympic 3D feeds
Very useful info about the feeds thanks.
Returning to the specifics of this TV I tried a Sandisk Cruzer USB memory stick but it is not fast enough for recording according to the Samsung!
Which sticks are fast enough?
There is a Sandisk Ultra for example but USB2.0 seems to be the norm for all of them these days.

Re: Olympic 3D feeds
For SD & SDXC cards there is a number in a circle. This indicated the speed of the memory. The higher the number, the faster the SD or SDXC card.
I haven't looked at memory sticks myself, but I would imagine that thy would have something similar. I would also highly recommend a dry run as I suspect that you will not be able to record off Freeview unless your TV is on Freeview (i.e. you can't watch the Sky STB whilst recording).
Also, I know you are leaving things to the last minute now, but last weekend I was checking the price of an 8GB SDXC card for a friend. On-line she could get one for £3 to £5. A rather well known retail shop was selling the same card for £35.

You didn't buy your USB drive on eBay did you? If you did there is a good chance it is a fake. Have a look here -
eBay.co.uk Guides - FAKE SanDisk Cruzer USB Flash Drives Exposed
The Cruzer range is one of SanDisks cheaper ones, for highspeed transfer you really need the Ultra, which is a bit more expensive,- SANDISK SDCZ45 Ultra USB Memory Stick - 8GB, Black & Red at cheap prices | Pcworld
I don't have the record facility on my TV but I can play HD Video from a Panasonic SDHC(10) card in a USB converter.
