Sky 3D content goes live on Nintendo 3DS
A trailer of Sky 3D documentary Meerkats 3D is now available on the Nintendo 3DS.

The first Sky 3D content has been released for the Nintendo 3DS console today (October 14th 2011).

Owners of the handheld gaming device can now view a trailer for upcoming Sky 3D show Meerkats 3D, a nature documentary jointly produced by Oxford Scientific Films and Principal Large Format, with assistance from Cambridge University.

Describing the programme, producer Caroline Hawkins from Oxford Scientific Films said: "We decided to film in 3D to bring the viewer into the meerkat world as closely as possible.

"The format makes the movie more natural and dramatic, rather than yet another animal study documentary."

Three-dimensional footage of various magic tricks can also be enjoyed on the 3DS.

As well as these two videos, Nintendo has lined up additional content from Sky 3D to add to the entertainment line-up on the console, with sporting action from EuroSport and clips of Aardman Animations' Shaun the Sheep also set to appear.

The launch marks the latest partnership between Sky and Nintendo, coming shortly after Wi-Fi provider The Cloud - owned by the satellite broadcaster - signed a deal to deliver wireless internet access to 3DS users.
