Re: sky 3d football angle
not actually seen a 3D game so didn't realise the camera angle is different. where is it? behind the goal? as thinking about it the best effect of 3D in sport must be if the ball is coming towards you.

Re: sky 3d football angle
3D is a different beast. Standard 2D often has all the action in the same plane whereas for optimum 3D you need items moving towards you through the planes. So simply placing a 3D camera in place of a 2D camera would produce indifferent results. Also 3D needs good depth of field (ie in focus throughout the depth of the shot) whereas 2D often uses differential focusing to isolate a close object by making the background fuzzy and that would destroy the 3D effect.
Sky are making a real effort to optimise 3D so need different camera positions for the best effect. How good these different camera positions are for watching football is a different matter. Are you watching the 3D effect or the football? The current 2D football coverage has evolved over many years and in general is a good way to appreciate the game, will 3D give the same satisfying coverage? Maybe not but it may be good 3D!
