      Replacement Hub, (Router)

      Can anyone recommend a router that is SKY compatible which i can purchase to replace my SKY Hub, nothing wrong with it i just want something i can use to port forward Regularly as playing on Xbox live the port numbers are always changing or different for certain games, i can then use Portforward to change it automatically for me without the need for me to keep trying to figure it out each time things change, because at the moment my SKY Hub is not listed on the portforward data base,
      thanks,
      jc

      Just put you Xbox in the DMZ. No port forwarding and nobody has 'hacked' an Xbox yet.

      The Asus 86u and the Netgear D7000 seem popular, loads on info on here if you look about.

      Hi.

      If you are looking for modem/router combined then tp link vr900 and netgear d7000 will both work. Tp link router needs firmware 150909 which you can download from tp link website.d7000 will work as is.

      There are other options if you want to run a seperate modem and use a routers wan port. Asus rt-ac87u works just fine with merlin firmware alongside a bt open reach modem. The router needs to be flashed with merlin. If you fancy going down the seperate modem route its worth looking at what kit is in your cabinet as its likely to be eci or huawei. You can get more details here
      ::. Kitz - Cabinet Lookup .::

      Worth looking at the fibre section of the forum as lots of info.

      zyxel VMG3925 (bridge mode)
      Qotom i5 Opnsense with IPV6
      Asus RT-AC88U - as wap

      ECI CAB- G.INP disabled 8th April 2016

      click for ECI VDSL line stats

      click for Huawei VDSL line stats

      Yes give your Xbox a static IP in settings say 192.168.0.300 in the Xbox network settings. Then put the same address in the DMZ, tick the box press apply.

      I think 300 is out of the automatic IP range. Think it stops in the mid 20O's.

      I can take screen shots for you this weekend if you are stuck.
