Very low SNR after migrating in from ADSL Max
Ok so when I first connected to ADSL Max my SNR was around the 6 mark, then I had some bad thunderstorms and it went up to 9 and it stayed there for many years after and never went back to normal.
Since migrating to Sky LLU day 1 it was 15 then it decreased to 3 where it stays during the day and during night time it drops further to around 1 see below:
ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 13308 kbps 1112 kbps
Line Attenuation 35.0 db 19.9 db
Noise Margin 1.4 db 8.3 db
I am starting to get disconnection during the early hours of the morning which doesn't really affect my usage but obviously isn't ideal.
Will it automatically fix itself after 14 days like it's supposed to do on ADSL Max?
Cheers

Are the stats taken from your test socket? If not please post your stats from your test socket.

Re: Very low SNR after migrating in from ADSL Max
Get in touch with sky and tell them to cap your line at a lower speed. This will take care of your disconnections.
Alternatively you could ask them to put you on DLM again.

Re: Very low SNR after migrating in from ADSL Max
Just reboot your router when the noise margin is low(below 7db) it will resync at a lower more stable speed. Switching the power off for a minute then on again is the best way to ensure a full resync.

Re: Very low SNR after migrating in from ADSL Max
I can't really say how much you would loose, but the thing is that there is little point in syncing at a high rate when your throughput is slow. This happens when you have a very low noise margin which causes errors in the transmission. These errors mean the data has to be resent, which in some cases can half your actual speed. It is better to sync a bit lower and have a good stable throughput.

Re: Very low SNR after migrating in from ADSL Max
Ok so I did what you said and my SNR has increased to 7.9 db - my line stats are as follows:
ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 10766 kbps 1101 kbps
Line Attenuation 35.0 db 20.1 db
Noise Margin 7.9 db 7.7 db
I have dropped sync by 2542 kbps is there anything I can do as the DMT tool says I should be able to get 13388 kbps on my line.
Cheers

Re: Very low SNR after migrating in from ADSL Max
If you reboot when your margin is above 7dbs it should resync a bit higher. It is a case of balancing your speed and noise margin to give you the best you can get. If you have the DMT tool working you may be able to set your margin with that. Start at about 6.5db and work your way down till you get a happy medium. The last thing you want to do is get Sky involved, they will stick a cap on your line and that will be that.
As you say your line should support a bit more, but not much. An average line with an attenuation of 35db should give 10-12Mb, which you are within at the moment. Charts which say you can get 13-14Mb are based on a perfect line, unfortunately yours seems to have a fault or just be in generally poor condition.
Has your throughput improved since you stabilised the line?

Re: Very low SNR after migrating in from ADSL Max
I thought if I reboot when my margin is above 7 dbs my sync will lower again?
I can use the DMT tool to decrease my SNR & increase my sync but I wasn't sure if my line would automatically do it for me so didn't want to mess around until I was sure. I guess this is not the case?
Don't know what my throughput is, what it means and how to find it out tbh.
Thnx
