      Hi Chris.
Don't forget to check your phone line for noise, the best way is to dial a single digit to kill the dial tone and listern, you should hear nothing but a low hiss, anything else, call BT and say you have a noise line. They will run a test which will pass, but you must insist that the noise is there, if it is.

      Hi Brian,

If I do as you suggest and dial a single digit, there is a barely audible buzzing. However, I have to block the other ear and concentrate to hear it. Would this constitute a noisy line worthy of calling an engineer out? I realise this is subjective, but hopefully you'll have an opinion.

BT's define noise as worthy of investagation if it prevents normal conversation, or prevents dialing. Your line seems fine. It looks like to get BT involved in your BB problem, you will have to go through Sky.

Who, going on previous experience, will just cap my line and send me on my way.

I think I'll live with it for a while as a sync of 5856 is not the end of the world.
