      Confused about my stats

      First off hello

Been looking round these forums for ages now and after convincing myself i could go faster have got myself an xte-2005 faceplate. Made no difference to my noise margin or speed whatsoever

Now, i look around the stats section and i see people with more errors, higher attenuation and similar noise values than me syncing at 10 meg plus. I get 5 meg (ish) and if i force noise margin down to 1 i get upto 7meg and still hardly any errors. I asked a bloke in t3 if i was capped and he insisted there was nothing in place. I know it only shows 40 mins uptime in the following stats but i pretty much get minimal errors after days anyway and have never had any dropped or dodgey connection issues whatsoever. SNR and ATT are pretty much solid values too.

Could someone please look at these and tell me if i'm possibly capped because from what i've learned from sky user i'm thinking it can manage better than that....

edit: longer period stats from taken after 11hrs.

      TIA

Forgot to say, changing to G.Dmt using mognuts utility doesn't really change much.

      Re: Confused about my stats

Could you do some comparison stats from your test socket (see first link in my sig)
with your attanuation you should be getting a better connection. your router is not syncing as high as it could which is normally down to a bad line.
(but sayng that you have no real errors at the moment/)

      Re: Confused about my stats

Yep, no problem. these are from the test socket behind the adsl nation xte-2005 faceplate with the router plugged straight into a splitter without an extension. obviously not a long time period but as i said, imo the errors are minimal anyway. I disconected my (1) extra line in the house and the ring wires etc before fitting the xte-2005 but nothing has made any difference at all.

      thanks for looking into this

      Re: Confused about my stats

well thats got me , i was looking for some real diffences from the test socket results.
i did notice your stats were better from GDMT mode(your max Sync for up and down increased) but your connection speed did not change that much.

hopefully one of the more techie members may be able to pick up this thread a little later, and give some advice.

      Re: Confused about my stats

      Hi all.
As none of this seems to make much sense (apart from you have just got a duff line) It sometimes pays to start at the beginning.
      (1) With the faceplate removed from the master, just the test socket should be connected to the line and all other sockets should be dead. Is this so ?.
      (2) Can you look at the back of the master and check the connections to A and B . are they secure?. And check the colours. Are there any joint boxes between the master and line entry to you home? are the connections secure?. this may require a bit of a hunt so try and follow the line from entry to the master socket.

      Re: Confused about my stats

      Hi Brian,

      1) just the test, everything else disconnected.

      2) master = twisted pair, blue-A, white-B both secure.
the master socket is located over the hole where the drop cable eners the house. out side there is a gray cover that covers the cable from the ducting to the cable entry. i removed thi and there are no joints that i can see, just the drop cable straight from the ground into the house with about 50cm of it covered by the gray cover. The house was built in 1999.

      Cheers

      Re: Confused about my stats

Oh dear. it would seem you have covered all the bases. All I can think of is there may be some aluminium cable from the main DP exchange side. Its not the cable so much that gives trouble, but the joints where they meet copper.

      Re: Confused about my stats

Bugger. i'm screwed then? is there anything i can do, or get BT to do about that?

the drop cable is copper twisted pair. Is the "main DP exchange side" the run to the estate?

      Cheers
