Got sky to switch me to ADSL2+!

This is a discussion on Got sky to switch me to ADSL2+! within the Router stats forums, part of the Broadband Technical Help category; i hope this explains things better, also iirc it is also possible for adsl2+ performance to drop below normal g.dmt ...

Thanks for the reply. I'm 4km (straight line distance) away as well, although I know the line length is a lot longer. I know some people have managed to get the actual line length, anyone know how I can check?

Also, thanks for posting that graph DevilSpawn, according to that graph I fall within Total-VDSL based on a guess that my actual line length is 5-6km! What is Total-VDLS?

Re: Got sky to switch me to ADSL2+!

Im at my cousins she only lives a couple of streets away and she is AOL and has been for a while. Making her slightly a bit closer to exhange and she only gets 512 kbps and 346 kbps which has since dropped slightly, so what Im getting must lucky.

Not gonna mess with this speed malarkey any more I dont want sky to cap me again as they say im running errors which to me have not been apparent as downloaded for 3 days straight without problems. I have to admit when errors do build it does slightly drop the throughput speed, but thats nowt unless obviously your having constant droputs or disconnections every 15 to 30 minutes then yeah its problem.

Whats a reboot now and again not much as far im concerned in my situation if it aint as unstable as it could be.

Yeah you are lucky to be getting close to 2MB... it's a nightmare being stuck on 0.5MB and I've also just found out that I am 6.6km from the exchange that I am connected to. So I will never get over 0.5MB.
