No I don't think so. The rules are a bit vague but the endpoint for BT's stuff is normally where the phone wires break once in the house. This would be the back of the first socket (i.e. master socket) in most circumstances but in houses with old wiring this may be at a junction box. That's my belief anyway. Possibly if an ex or current BT engineer reads this then they can advise.

Re: Changed to sky on the thursday the 19th

Just found out that my exchange status is currently RED and is due for an upgrade (says 20.07.07 but take it it's give or take a few days), could this be a factor on why my line has errors?

No. Highly unlikely. The red status just means that the capacity (for BT services) is full.

Re: Changed to sky on the thursday the 19th

ok all you clever people that know about these things.......

I've had a bit of a poke about (without going into to much detail ) and left it running for about 2 hours.

Will my stats let me move to ADSL2+ yet or am I best to move to mid and save myself a fiver?

BTW the sync rate did drop to 6880 BEFORE I poked about.

      Thanks again

Re: Changed to sky on the thursday the 19th

      Looking good.

Please remember though that with a noise margin of 17.1db, few errors will show unless the connection is really bad. The only way to know for sure is to get uncapped and see what errors arise.

Re: Changed to sky on the thursday the 19th

I'd like to say THANK YOU! to everybody that helped with my line issue especially Saturday.

Without this forum I would never of known I had errors never mind I was capped.

I'm currently sync'd at 12meg on ADSL2+ and after spending 2 days trying to get past the lunatics at level 1 customer services (who had me deleting cookies and asking if my router was pluged in) I at last managed to speak to a sensible lady at Level 3.

I know I still have errors and I will be keeping an eye on my connection over the next couple of days, if I start to have problems I will phone up and ask to be put back on G.DMT as Level 3 advised.

I knew I wasn't that far from the exchange and believed my line could support more than 8meg, and this forum has helped me gain a small amount of knowledge to understand why I can't get certain speeds.

      Thank you again
A VERY HAPPY SKY USER FORUM customer

No, don't do that. Now you're on ADSL2+ you can change the mode yourself (and back again) whenever you want using Mognuts.

Yes. ADSL2+ uses a different (wider) frequency range which will result in a different (increased) attenuation to G.DMT.
