hey all

could someone check my stats please and tell me there thoughts on them..iam not to sure on what i should be looking at tbh...

iam on sky max and iam about 1.6km from the exchange but i seem to be only getting about 5-6mb downloads sometimes abit lower

Noise margins are a bit low and your profile is set to g-dmt basically you have the8megs line profile if your on max then u haven’t been set on the right profile or maybe your capped they just haven’t told u

The noise margin isn't low. In the two sets of stats it is reported as 6.9db and 7.1db. 6.9db is the router default.

Customers are normally only set to ADSL2+ on Max if the line is capable of supporting more than 8000kbps and there are no noise issues.

This line is only able to sync at 6592kbps. With an attenuation of 42db, this points to a line noise issue.

If the line was capped then the noise margin would be higher (that, after all, is the point of it) and the router reported max rate would be significantly higher than it is.

Your connection is OK but not great. As indicated above, your router has only been able to connect at ~65% of the potential speed for your line attenuation. This is very common, usually due to line noise and normally easily fixed. If you are able to get rid of the noise (assuming this is the problem) then your router will immediately sync at ~8000kbps. If you then contact Sky and ask them to move you to ADSL2+ you may see a sync of ~10500kbps which is the maximum for your line.

Have a look at the cabling and faceplate help forum for advice and info on diagnosing and fixing line noise issues. The first thing you should do is run the test socket comparison.

to clear somethin gup about ADSL2+, a customer will be put on it if....

less than 2.5KM from exchange (straight line)
BT checker says speed more than 5.5Mbps

there was another point but cant remember of the top of my head

anyone outside of these will be on G-dmt/8MB regardless of being on Max as it'll cause more problems then it's worth...
