    Trouble with line should be getting 15meg ?

      Trouble with line should be getting 15meg ?

      was getting 6meg on a telephone extension upstairs so rang sky as I thought i hadn't been put on adsl2 , then I connected on the master socket and the detailed stats are below ... sky reckon I should be getting near max connection but as you can see I'm not , any ideas as to why ?? pleeaseeee heeeelp ........

      What speed do you get connected directly to your test socket with the supplied router cable? The test socket is behind the faceplate of your master socket assuming you have an NTE5.

      The house is pre eighties so its not an NTE5 box . The stats are from being plugged directly in to the master socket. and only really gain 1.5 meg over the extension socket .

      Well there's really only two likely reasons for a connection speed that's too low for the attenuation/noise margin:
      • you have a noisy line
      • Sky have capped your connection speed

      The latter doesn't look likely as they normally put customers on G.DMT when they cap. Your wiring is 20+ years old - I'd say a noisy line looks very likely.
