RT-N66U - Lost Cloned MAC Address
I've been having issues with my internet going off lately. I'm on Sky fibre with the BTO modem and the RT-N66U on Merlin firmware. When it goes off the DSL light stays on but the WAN light remains on and stops flashing. Sometimes rebooting fixed it for a day or so.
I decided to upgrade the router to the latest Merlin firmware as it's over 2 years since I installed it. So on the router I took a backup of all the settings, then went onto the WAN page to take a screenshot of the settings to make sure, but I noticed the MAC cloning entry was all zeros (00:00:00:00...etc). Now unfortunately I have lost the original Sky modem, so I'm at a bit of a loss. Am I going to have to get a new router from Sky to then copy the MAC address of it? And any idea what they charge if so?
Re: RT-N66U - Lost Cloned MAC Address
The majority of non-sky router users don't bother with MAC cloning, but if you have your credentials you can work out the mac address from that, it's the 12 digits before the @skydsl bit in your login ID.
