How to move TV to other side of room and still get Sky+HD with no wires?

I just moved in to my new house and got Sky+HD this week, which I am very happy with.

But... the aerial socket is on the wrong side of the room (I guess the previous owners weren't big TV watchers as the sofas didn't face the TV). I want the TV over the other side, but the Sky installer said it would be a bit of a nightmare involving messy wires to do it, and I don't want wiresaround my living room or down the front of the house.

So I have seen HD senders on amazon which are wireless, but it all looks a bit complicated (I am not very technical) and expensive - they are all around £200!

I only need the signal to go a few metres across the other side of the room, and although it would be nice to be able to change the channel point at the TV, I don't mind having to point the remote at the Sky box behind me.

By the way my living room is wood floors, and the TV installer was great and spent ages trying to figure out a better solution, but couldn't.

You could always look at laying some trunking down to hide the coax cables. The link below is to illustrate what I mean. The are lots of alternatives available:

Thanks for the reply, but I really don't want to have wires or trunking around the room (it would involve two doors and would look bad).

I was hoping someone could suggest a cheaper wireless solution, since the signal only has to go a few metres from one side of the room to the other.

There are a lot of cheaper wireless options but those for HD are very expensive. You can get senders for SD at £20-40 which work quite well. The biggest problem with any wireless sender is that when someone walks across the beam it upsets the picture, which may be a bit annoying if you are transmitting across a room. Before spending a lot of cash I would try it with a cheap set to make sure you can put up with the interference. Also if you have a wireless router the TV sender can interfere with it, so if you have a 2.4 ghz router get a 5 ghz sender. If you use both on your router, then I am afraid you are stymied.

The Coax feeds from the Satellite Dish to the TV will need to be physically connected to the STB.

If you were to place the STB away from the TV and near to where LNB feed enter your room you could get a Video Sender. There are three type:

1. UHF
2. Scart
3. HDMI

With UHF you would be limited to SD pictures and mono sound.

Scart would provide you with stereo sound but only SD picture quality.

HDMI video senders are a lot more expensive but you would get the 1080i picture quality, albeit with stereo sound.
