I'm in a small block of flats that uses a communal dish. I have two wires (SAT1 & SAT2) coming off a faceplate to my Skybox. During installation, I was told that I could not have mutliroom.
I assume that the two feeds allows for one of them to be used to record.
If I don't use the second feed to record, can I not use it to feed to a second set-top box, which can view, but also not record?
You could certainly do that.
Another suggestion would be to run a coax feed from the back of the Sky STB and purchase a Magic-Eye & a 2nd remote control.
This would allow you to view & control the STB when in your bedroom.

The satellite signal might not be strong enough to reach the 2nd room, otherwise the SkyHD STB would be a good option. It doesn't have a hard drive, so no recording, Anytime or 2nd input to worry about.
It does have a LAN port, so it may be able to stream content from the internet in the future (i.e. BBC iplayer or Anytime+).
You can purchase your own satellite coax cables.
I would check on-line to see if you can get it for a discounted price.
