Calls to mobiles
The Competition Commission has stepped in and ordered Ofcom to revise the figure that companies are allowed to charge for incoming phone calls (the termination rate). They have also been told to factor in the overcharging that has taken place in the two years the current rates have been in place.
Ofcom's plan was for the rates to steadily drop anyway between 2007 and 2010/11 so this will now have to be accelerated.
The net effect of this is that the cost of calling a mobile phone will drop fast over the next couple of years.
Which is nice :spinny:

Re: Calls to mobiles
It is good news but it is a tad disappointing that the Competition Commission have had to more or less order Ofcom to do this when they should have done it in the first place.

Re: Calls to mobiles
Yep, it seems Ofcom messed up the calculation but were too stubborn/proud or whatever to admit it and make the changes themselves.

Re: Calls to mobiles
Surely if it decreases the cost, it'll be increased somewhere else..?
