I can't find German Tv on my SKY Box
I learn German and I want to watch some German programmes. Unfortunately, I couldn't find any. For example, I tried to set up my sky box (ordinary) using such data like ZDF-> H, 10.96425GHz, 27.5, 3/4 or RTL->,H ,11.21425GHz but it was unsuccessful. Is it generally possible to watch German TV on my SKY Box? I am connected to SKY by cable - I don't have a dish (I live in a flat).,

The channel frequencys you mention are from the old "analogue" satelite system which Sky no longer use, you wont find these on any UK cable network either. They may still be transmited on the old analogue Astra satelite but you would need an old analogue reciever box and dish. I dont know if anything is available on the digital system but I guess if there is it's probably encrypted.

freesat would probably be a better option if you want to go that way, personally id be looking for german news programs streaming online as this would be a better way to access the spoken language content you want and would use "proper" language as opposed to the slang you may find in a tv show :)

Buy a dirt cheap FTA digital receiver and connect it to the LNB on a small dish aimed at Astra-1 (19.2'E). That will get you more German programmes than you could shake a stick at!
Alles klar?

B&Q have a FTA setup, I think it's about £40. dish, LNB and receiver.
Got to be worth it, also do a cheap throw away meter to align it.

There is also a German channel on sky RTL (News I Think). I used to watch it when I learnt German.
