Been on with sky most of day and no wiser of speed problem
Hi, I posted earlier a thread titled "Still got problems with my connection" so I phoned sky and got through to CST. First one went much help, said about my extensions as in the test socket I got 6678 and in the extension 2203. Ok, fine I accept that given the figures, told him that my throughput was only about 8 kb/s dial up speed and web pages won't load.
He said that was not a problem time of day (11:30 am) and such, but no reason why I could get 8198 on my upstairs extension up to 2 days before. Bought 20 metre ethernet cable to leave router at master socket and run to PC, thoughput still only 10k. Phone back and speak to someone good called Justin. He phoned me back, went through stuff and tests.
Found that errors were very high and saying that my line will only except 5.5 meg, which I know is wrong as the last 9 months it has been fine at 8 meg. cleared errors and dropped speed to under 5 meg, helped the connection. Said I werent happy as I know I was getting 8198 and there logged showed this.
So he is sending me out a new router as think this is the cause. They capped me at 6.4 and said my line was looking very good. Connection is now slowing through the night and at 18:10 speed tests were 3.8 mb, now under 1 meg speeds in test socket, and my an example of my stats as follows:
SNR (dB): 7.7 11.0
Attn(dB): 38.0 24.5
Pwr(dBm): 19.8 12.3
Max(Kbps): 6752 992
Rate (Kbps): 6144 768
Total time = 33 min 35 sec
SF = 116878
CRC = 24674
LOS = 0
LOF = 0
ES = 1818
Previous 15 minutes time = 15 min 0 sec
SF = 52923
CRC = 10886
LOS = 0
LOF = 0
ES = 817
Speed test: <a href="http://www.speedtest.net"><img src="http://www.speedtest.net/result/303285438.png"></a>
and these errors are in the test socket bypassing all extensions, but sky says no error or issue on the line. Not happy as the connection is poor, and I can't play games as it is to laggy. Anyone know if router could be faulty.
Re: Been on with sky most of day and no wiser of speed problem
perhaps wiser to continue previous thread rather than start a new one...
