Sky + Box stuck in standby?

Help please!

My sky+ kept freezing yesterday tea time when I was trying to watch a recording of Fireman Sam with my two year old! Like I always do when I get freezing problems I went to services and System Set up and pressed 01 Enter on my remote to get "Installer Set Up". I then selected Sky + Planner rebuild (housekeeping it comes up with) and it went on standby like it always does for a minute or two but it usually thyen comes back on and hey presto - everything is usually fine. However, this time, it has stayed on standy and is stuck on standby! I have powered off the box and it is still the same today. I cant get the red standby light to go green!

Can anybody offer and solutions PLEASE!

Thats how mine went.It's buggered I'm afraid,you need a new one. (And I was a Sky tech at the time so I know it's a common fault.)

What's the make and model number on the label?

Have you tried a forced software update?

This is what I did on a PACE v2 box.
Ensure your telephone line is plugged in. Unplug the box from the mains and leave 1 minute. Hold down the Backup button while you plug the box back into the mains for about 10 secs or until the front panel lights come on. You should see the message updating system software on the tv. This can take about 15 minutes to complete.

This worked for me :)

I think this is a symptom of a dead Hard Drive. Easy to replace.
