Can receive e-mail into outlook 2002 but not send
I do so hope somebody can help. I can receive my e-mails into Microsoft Outlook 2002 but cannot send since the change to Google. I have changed everything I have even gone over it with Skys technical support and they have told me they need to escalate it. Whether I will hear from them I am not very hopeful.
I have logged into Sky.com and changed things on the enabling pop.
I have changed the incoming and outgoing servers to pop.tools.sky.com and smtp.tools.sky.com
I have changed the advanced tab setting to require secure settings and set to 995 and 465
I have added sky.com to the user name
I have ticked my outgoing server requires authentication and use same setting as my incoming mail server.
I have gone over and over it till I am nearly pulling out my hair. There must be something I am not doing.

Hi,
I know it doesn't help you but I have the same problem. I have my own website and my own email. Everything was fine when I was with Tiscali but since moving to Sky 4 weeks ago, I can only receive emails but not send anything.
Sky don't offer any technical help at this level and the Indian call centres really struggle to understand when I say I don't need a Sky user name and email as I have my own email address.
I'm really get fed up with them at the moment.
Broadband works just fine.

David, If you have your "own email" I presume you mean you have your own pop and smtp servers so why would you involve sky?
If you use the skoogle smtp server you will get your sky email address appended to every thing you send, and I'm sure you wouldn't want that!

sharonann, I have noticed on previous "unable to send from outlook" problems that ensuring that you have the latest service pack for outlook has helped! Have you tried that?
Re: Can receive e-mail into outlook 2002 but not send
I've also seen one or two reporting that the new settings work for the incoming server but the old settings still work for the outgoing server. (Obviously it implies that your account got screwed up in the changeover and needs sorting out but it might be worth a try in the interim?)

Try using these instead:
pop.gmail.com & smtp.gmail.com
Use the standard port settings and not 995 and 465.
Re: Can receive e-mail into outlook 2002 but not send
Thanks for the replies. The old settings do work as you suggested for the outgoing server using smtp.sky.com and 25 as the old setting not 465. But I thought its not going to work for long. I also tried using the gmail settings but that does not seem to work. As far as I know I have done all the updates for Microsoft Outlook.
It seems mad that you can receive mail but not send.
Re: Can receive e-mail into outlook 2002 but not send
Its really simple, I had the same problem for a week and a half. Go to the Microsoft.com site and download SP3 update for your version of outlook. I was running Office XP. Since I did this everything is running fine.
Hope this helps,
Martin.
Re: Can receive e-mail into outlook 2002 but not send
I had a similar issue with Outlook Express and found that I had to reply to an email nestled within the Sky.com inbox before I could send emails after the changes. I don't know if this is the same thing but it may be worth a look in the Sky inbox for your account (plus sub-email addresses).
