I know you have probably checked and triple checked but sometimes an i can be mistaken as 1 or l and an o can be mistaken as an O or an 0

ie lowercase i or lowercase l or number 1 or lower case letter o or letter O or number 0

Re: Help with P2P - some observations

Not working, took it all down via Control Panel and entered it all again but still getting same error message

*There was a problem logging onto your mail server. Your Password was rejected. Account: 'pop.sky.com', Server: 'pop.sky.com', Protocol: POP3, Server Response: '-ERR Login failed.', Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 0x800CCC90, Error Number: 0x800CCC92 *

Still not recognising the Sky password, which was entered exactly as per Sky letter.

Suppose I'll have to call them tomorrow

Have you got McAfee or Norton installed?

Norton, strange you say that as everytime I hit enter on the OE set up a small window jumped up and down in bottom left of my screen, far too fast to read but it had that tell tale 'Norton colouring' ...

Try disabling your norton as a test, someone else had the same problem iirc

Re: Help with P2P - some observations

Still no joy, switched off Firewall and Email scanning but it still saying that my Sky username and password are not recognised. This also stops me logging onto the Sky BB homepage.

Re: Help with P2P - some observations

The username and password quoted on Sky letter to me gave up the ghost not long after my BB was activated. Never had any real reason to go onto the sky BB homepage until I wanted to get a sky.com email addy.

I just cannot face talking to Sky CS or TS anymore so I'll stick with my AOL email for now and try to fire up the OE email again soon.

Re: Help with P2P - some observations

As mentioned elsewhere on this forum, If you have registered on sky.com (NOT skybroadband.com) previously then THAT password is the correct one to use.

The password sent out in the letter once you choose skyBB is for those who have NEVER registered before on sky.com.

You may have registered previously on sky.com if like me you considered sky but could only have the connect package and needed to SHOW INTEREST for when sky proper came to your exchange.

I used my existing sky.com password (same username) and HEY PRESTO!! you think you are working with sky's digital TV site and low and behold you can add new users and set-up new email accounts..........

Don't ask - only SKY would do this. but it works!
