      problems with utorrent

      Hi there,
this is my 1st post on this forum and would like to say hello to everyone here and especially to the forum creater.

      Now to my problem.
I have been for 6 months with f2s using a ZyXEL modem router without any problems. I have downloaded from HTTP, FTP and p2p and never had any problems apart from the ones where downloading was a bit slow, but then it was slow on all ways of downloading.
I'm now for less than a week with Sky and was quite satisfied with the migration since it went very smooth thanks to f2s customer support.
My sky connection happened only one day after it was schedules, no to bad in my point of view.
Last weekend I started using 2p2 downloads on my utorrent with the same speed as I was used to have on f2s, around 400kbytes per second on havy seeded torrents.
since last sunday late afternoon I had a drop in speed to about 50kBps. I thought that something with the sky router was wrong and went back to my old ZyXEL. Yes, I managed to get the password and username from the Sky router. But nothing really changed the spead was still as slow as it never happened before. I have not changed anything in utorrent settings and yes, the green tick next to the download speed is green. I do get loads of seeders as I did before but then almost all of the seeders were active ones. Now, I have loads of seeders but only a handful of them are active. All other just sit there doing nothing or leeching from me.
does anyone know if sky is capping p2p downloads?

      Please come back to me

      regards

      AP

afaik - Sky do not use traffic shaping on any of the following products

      Base
      Mid
      Max

      but they do on Connect

I will move this to the P2P discussion forum for you

That could be the problem, Try, googling for the "Linux Torrents" they are the ones where you can get high speeds from, That would test to see if its not an issue with the "seeding!"

      Re: problems with utorrent

Are you definitely on Base and not Connect?

As imho Base with a 2gb download limit would be a bad choice anyway.

How much are you paying per month for it? Free / 5.00 / 10.00 / 17.00

      Re: problems with utorrent

I'm now without any p2p at all. speed absolute ZERO and still everything is set as it should. sky sucks. I called them and after a long time waiting I was told that within the next 4 to 5 days someone should call me from sky for further testing. I had never any problems with f2s at any time.

      Re: problems with utorrent

Is the problem only with torrents? (i.e. what's your http / ftp downloads like?)

Have you tried another bittorrent client (just for elimination)?

try this torrent m8 see wot speed u get it might be a bit slow to start with until it connects to seeds and peers theres 300+ seeders and it should max out ur connection........

      BNBT File Info

i know it might sound daft but try it twice once tonight and again in the morning and tell us if there is a difference in your speed

Please take a moment and upgrade your bit torrent client to the latest version.
