Torrenting: Tried literally everything? Does Sky hate connect users?

      Hi all,
I've read with great interest all the threads on torrenting and some difficulties people have been having, and even with a head full of all the info I can muster, i still cannot get above 40kb/s on the Connect package.

I'm connected through Sky using a Macbook, and at home (I'm a student) with telewest broadband my torrents fly. However on my sky connection, im completely screwed! I have literally tried everything, not a port isuse, my NAT is fine, not an encryption issue, i have RC4 enabled, and not a torrent issue, having tried torrents i know to be healthy!

Whats more bizarre is that my upload maxes out at whatever i set it, why is it my download that is so crippled? would really appreciate any suggestions AT ALL that anyone has, I'm willing to try obsolutely anything!

Thanks so much guys, look foward to hearing from you all!

      Regards

      Paul

Connect has some sort of Traffic Management on it!
Where access to certain ports are limited.

Some people have reported using HIGH ports which have been able to boost their speeds!

      Hi fibreoptic,
thanks for the reply!tried that unfortunately, above 50000 and 60000 with no NAT errors reported, bizarre! could anyone on Connect who's managed to obtain decent speeds possibly offer some advice? same for any mac os x users?

      Thanks again

Re: Torrenting: Tried literally everything? Does Sky hate connect users?

haha as a smug mac user i sit here and realise utorrent isn't available through mac os x, typical!

i can however use azereus (i never spell that right) and have enabled rc4 and find it makes very little difference. Whats more bizarre is sometimes I'll have no NAT error or DHT firewalled, i.e. all green, yet grc.com still reports my port as closed?? Any suggestions?

      Thanks!

Known issue on Connect, it would theoretically max out a central if 24 users downloaded at full speed - alledgedly.

I know it aint much consolation, many users reported the encryption was the key to getting faster downloads.

Can you try after midnight and report back to see if the throttling is peak and offpeak or just peak?

Prolly True, a BT Central is IIRC only 622Mbit and at a cost of (also iirc) over 1million a year you can see why traffic shaping is so abundant
