      Problems with file sharing sites

After continual problems with Sky, i've eventually got up and running tonight.

But when i tried to access file sharing sites - namely emule (and limewire), i found that there were no servers i could connect to.

There were no such problems on my previous ISP, Tiscali - so can anyone suggest what i can do??

      Hi

Have you opened any of the ports required in the router?

I think the user is having problems getting onto the site? Not actually with the client?

      Hi,
Use a static ip address for your pc and forward the required ports in the router to that address, namely 4661-4665 TCP and the udp port too (4672 i think). Did you use a router or a modem before, if a modem emule would have opened the ports for you on xp.

I had the same problem. If you go into the Help files in emule you can find a solution there. its under the routers section. the netgear router isnt there but if you look at steps 4-7 under the Lisnkys router it shows you how to set it up. This enabled me to connect to emule with a high id although my download speeds were still very slow. only moved over to Sky yesterday and `im NOT thrilled. Have to keep rebooting the router. Hopefully it will settle down soon.

Some Advice.. Its always advisable to inform your old ISP as soon as you have migrated that you have moved.
