      please help with torrents on mac

      hey guys

      i use acquisition to download torrents on port 6881, but rarely get above 4kb/s

      i searched for a few threads about torrents but found them really complicated, is there another port i can use to speed up my d/l? im sharing etc etc but no joy

      im on connect package, http downloads at 750kb/s

      i can access the router admin, but nothing ive done in there makes any difference...

      We strongly suspect traffic management is in place on the Connect package. We are awaiting official confirmation of this.

      Some Advice.. Its always advisable to inform your old ISP as soon as you have migrated that you have moved.

      I know a certain person on a connect package, who practically confirms that if any shaping, it is slight. ie they have downloaded shed loads.

      Smile Download Torrents on Mac...

      I have a Mac and using Azureus as opposed to Acquisition was a step up...

      Your biggest issue is the fact that you are using default ports....see the Tutorial section and get away from ports 6881-6889...They are closely monitored by most ISP's and are the subject of many problems related to download speeds.

      Change to a "high" port and report back on your speeds. Also, try changing to Azureus (just as a trial...) and find a well seeded torrent such as Ubuntu (http://www.mirrorservice.org/sites/r...untu.com/edgy/)
