Not sure, but it is worth doing both just to cover the bases! I am interested to see if this has an effect as, I am on Max, so cannot vouch for the effectiveness myself.

Just to check, when you open utorrent and then select "speed guide" from the menu, if you press "test if port is forwarded properly you get a green"?

If you do then everything is set up properly and your low speeds are just down to the torrents you're choosing.

If you don't then something else is blocking the connection e.g. a firewall (Windows, McAfee etc.).

Thanks everyone for their comments. I have made sure that all the ports are open and that port forwarding is done properly.

I dont understand that when there are hundreds of seeds that I can only connect to very few of them. throughout today I havent had a speed faster than 11kB/s... Am sure dial up is quicker than that.

If anyone can suggest anything else to try or is there an alternate client to download from, I hope that when I transfer onto another sky package its not the same problems.

      Thanks all

      Jez,

did you try turning on encryption as I suggested? If they don't work then to ansswer your question about other packages, as far as we know this is only on connect. I am on max and my torrents always rum at full speed!

Hugsie, Thanks yes, I have tried it on enable protocol encryption, didnt seem to do much at all. I then changed it to Forced and has improved a little. Am currently downloading 2 torrents and have a combined download of around 40kB/s

I am well and truely at a loss with this, I used to have Onetel broadband with speed of 1Mb and that was fine, downloads far quicker than this. Feels like sky have sold me a dud!!

You are one of the lucky ones I keep getting told by sky as I cant migrate onto any other package yet.

Will keep pulling my hair out

Yeah same happens to me, i'm on connect as well
      world of warcraft works fine
if i open up azureus then i download like 1k/b and msn, xfire etc goes off, including web browsers.
i had a netgear router before, everything was fine, i haven't done any changes to the programs when i switched new router
went into routers settings and added the ports
azureus even tells me theres no nat error, everything s fine
      but internet goes off still

TheWhizzz, I tried that torrent file. It had around 30 servers uploading when I had a go.

The highest download speed I got was 321kB/s with an average of 261kB/s but very rarely got above 300. It downloaded the 92Mb in about 6mins and the uploading was around 0.4kB/s

I thought that this broadband was upto 8Mb download speed??
