I have now sorted all of Bittorrent issues by using a combination of Norton 2006 and uTorrent. Both upload and download speeds are now very high.

I'm having problems as well. My Sky BB went active on Monday installed uTorrent which said that my selected port was open, I then downloaded a 250mb file in 2 minutes and a 650mb file in 7 minutes so everything seemed to be working fine. Come last night uTorrent is now reporting that the port is know blocked despite it being forwarded and allowed in my firewall connections.

Anyone have any ideas as it's driving me crazy at the moment.

Hi Chris35, by high I mean on a well seeded single torrent I am getting around 160KB/s and if I have a few torrents running I can get anywhere from 400KB/s to 500KB/s. Upload speed is normally around 70 to 75 KB/s, but I have seen it peak a 90KB/s.

      Hope this answer you question.

I use a wireless connection both with my laptop and desktop pc and have tried the optimizer. I have also forwarded the port using the guide at portforward.com.
I rang up sky yesterday and after a check on my line they said that i should have no problem getting the 8MB speed, as my line supports it.
I have even tried azureus, another bt software with the same results. it tends to take an age connecting to other peers for some reason.

My speed tends to vary alot, early am i can get 6MB (according to speed test), after 1pm goes to about 3MB, after 4pm down to 1.5MB, after 7pm barely 1MB until 11pm when it goes back upto 3MB. Strange has my connection speed in the router stats never changes, its always 8120kbps.
The issue of your with throughput varying at certain times though having constant sync speed on connect, is due to the BT VP's at the exchange, the connect package is based on BT MAX, and BT will openly admit that the throughput of an 8Mb BT MAX connection may be similar to that of a 2Mb service during peak hours.
I'm on connect also, and see similar fluctuations in througput at different times of the day, but i dont have any issues with P2P software, often peaking at over 600KB/s in the day time using bittorrent

Thanks for the reply, as you have probably noticed I am on the CONNECT package and I am downloading at around 80kbps to 110kbps and uploading at around 40-50kbps. I am quite happy with this seeing I am paying half as much as I was with BT. Can't wait to be upgraded to your package though for a mere tenner per month.
