PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do not send any money to acs law. Request more information from them. Check on net for information regarding Andrew Crossley(ACS), lee bowden(media c.a.t.) and terence tsang! They are using very underhand, bullying techniques. As of yet only 5 people have been taken to court and they didn't turn up, so where charged by default. An IP address isn't enough proof in court. Seek advice from a solicitor and challenge their letter. Good luck!

      nice!
so has anyone else had one of these letters demanding monies? Seems strange that Sky don't inform you in the first instance with a cease and desist letter?

A gigabit router will not make your external connection any faster as Sky will only go to 20meg/sec well within what the Sky supplied routers can do.

Gigabit technology is desinged for companies who have large internal networks who need to throw about a lot of data, I doubt we'll ever see them used for broadband in the UK.

the reason i want gigabit isnt for the internet its for streaming and transfering files over my network and other things high intensive things i have but if i get blu ray movies then alot of the movies i have on my hard drive i might just delete them and save space as my 320gb hard drive is packing up full also its got software and music on to

It is not legal to download illegal material at any time, but it is up to you whether you take the chance.

One thing that this new Act has sorted out is the situation described by Steve811, earlier in the thread. This should not happen now. Illegal downloaders, who are caught, will be given notice that their activity has been observed and that they should cease. There should be no summonses popping through the letter box out of the blue from some shark lawyer out to make a buck.

The original post about getting a letter is about 18 months old, I doubt if this is still on-going. There may have been others in the mean time.
