Unhappy New 2 Sky Needs Help - Router Falls Asleep

      Hi All

New member with my first post.
I was with tesco broadband for 3 years - using bitcomet daily with never a problem.

I signed up for sky (mid) last week.
Every this set up ok .. and its working fine.

HERE IS THE PROBLEM I NEED HELP WITH:
i insalled bit comet, started file sharing ... program runs with really good speeds BUT after about 2 hours (approx) bit comet stops up/downloading and the connection with the router drops.

I check the machine, notice that its stopped up/downloading. Pause bitcomet open a IE window ... page cant be displayed ... repeat ... same ... repeat .. same .. repeat WORKS.

I open bit comet back up and they all start again

Can ANYONE help me before loose all my hair.

      Thanks all in advance

Re: New 2 Sky Needs Help - Router Falls Asleep

      1) Try turning off the UPnP

      http://www.skyuser.co.uk/tools/UPnP/

      2) Does Bitcomet use ports? If so have you opened them?

      3) Make sure you drop your upload speed, as it will flood your connection.

I use Utorrent occasionally and I have limited it to 20 which gives me upload clearance so I can still do other things.

      1) Try turning off the UPnP

      2) Does Bitcomet use ports? If so have you opened them?

i'm not uploading at the moment
      3) Make sure you drop your upload speed, as it will flood your connection.

Re: New 2 Sky Needs Help - Router Falls Asleep

      Hi

This is a tutorial on another application, it should give you an idea

      http://www.skyuser.co.uk/forum/sky-b...-utorrent.html

On Tesco did you have a router or a modem? If a modem this will explain why it worked before as there is no port blocking on a modem.

When you have your torrents downloading, you will have an upload as well so that is what I mean.

I would try Utorrent and see if any better once read the tutorial.

Sky Netgear DG834GT utility version 0.4l

go here and get detailed info from your router then paste results here

if its not your ports then the line could be getting errors causing it to 'trip' resulting in a drop in speed or even lock outs

if you need any info to get your router details just ask

is this the info you need

      to router admin page

      router

      target noise margin to 7dB

target noise margin to 100 units
(integer values only, 100 is router default, 16 units = 1dB)

      G.DMT Mode

      detailed modem statistics
