      Re: invitation for demonoid?

Not sure if this is the right place to ask my question, When using Demonoid my download speeds seem to be as slow as most of the public torrent sites i use. And demonoid seems to be scarce on seeders for alot of torrents i D/L this wont help my speeds ? should i be getting better speeds on Demonoid than public sites ? i guess it depend on how well seeded the torrent is ?

      Hey Zeo,
Thanks for posting those invites. Unfortunately I didn't find them in time. Would you please send me an invite via email? I would really appreciate it. I have a wide range of files to share and hope others find useful as well. Thanks much!

      Re: invitation for demonoid?

Like all torrent sites, speed in your "client" (U Torrent etc..) is dependant on the number of seeds and other influences, orrect port forward and set up of your download client.

IPTorrents is fast and I am a member, however sheer choices of files to share is much more limited than demonoid, but I agree, yup they are FAST. But make sure DHT is disabled in your client if using IP Torrents.

Also just another thing to consider is the number of TCP connections you have set on your PC, by default XP set it at 10 but you can use a program to increase that to 50 (or more with some other programs)

This may help out with your speeds, a checklist to consider:

Tips on Speeding Up Your Torrents ╗ Tech Addict - Your Source for Everything Tech

Here is the direct link for the program to increase your standard 10 TCP connections. Its called Event ID4226, or something similiar.

From the above website, an explanation:

You might have realized that your Torrent speeds have diminished marginally after you upgraded to windows xp service pack 2.What you fail to realize is that with the update to SP2,microsoft has limited the amount of tcp connections required by torrent programs.Currently the connection limit is capped at a maximum of 10 in service pack 2.

This was implemented by microsoft inorder to limit the spread of worms, trojans and other security threats. The whole idea behind service pack 2 was to secure your computer by all means possible. The most effective way to override the limit on you tcp connections is by using the Event ID4226 patch.
Heres a direct link to the EventID4226:
      www.LvlLord.de - Tipps, Tricks & Utilities - Downloads

As always have adequate protectections against trojan attack etc.. before increasing your TCP connection on your PC.

      Hope that helps..

I was getting 30kbps or less its now over 400 not sure if thats as fast as it should be but its alot better and as good as it was. How can i tell if i am downloading as fast as i could be ?

      Re: invitation for demonoid?

Thats cool, good improvement on speed

Basically I have around a 7 Meg connection. If I say use a "well seeded" torrent say from IPTorrents or Demonoid (50+ seeders) (for speed test, I would use IP Torrents) Set your bandwidth limit to unlimited for the test within U Torrent Preferences

My U Torrent zooms up to around 700 on one of these torrents. So its dependant on what speed you get with Sky. Obviously if you intend to surf and download at the same time, you don't want U Torrent to use all your available bandwidth.. so after the test, remember to re-set your download limit in U Torrent to something appropriate which will allow you bandwidth to surf at the same time.

      Good luck!

      Ged
