      Plusnet badmouthing Sky?

      Hi

I signed up for Sky Broadband (Max) yesterday, after receiving my MAC key from my current provider (Plusnet). Lo' and behold, someone from Plusnet rings me up this morning to tell me I shouldn't go with Sky because "they don't support P2P" - throttling back the P2P speeds to .2 meg. "Don't take my word for it," she says, "check it out for yourself."

So I did. And having skimmed the forum, there are numerous issues with regard to download speeds, but this particular one appears to be a big fat lie on Plusnet's part.

I had kind of similar when i had a guy from BT call asking would i consider going to BT, When i explained i was changing to Sky he informed me it would be a connection fee of 40!
I think it's a case of 'some' isp's onbviously not wanting to lose people so trying various excuses to try and put them off changing.

      Re: Plusnet badmouthing Sky?

I was told by AOL that sky's data limit's were really tight, i would only get 2mb speed from sky (if that).

here i am with max package with OK speeds not the full 16mb but good enough for now considering I'm saving 19.99 a month.

P.S. i know a lot of people are complaining about sky but so far i cant fault them.

(And NO I dont work for them!)

roflmao, from Plusnet who invented traffic shaping and the worst internet download experience ever, it is only recently that Plusnet have added capacity to their network after starving it for nearly 2 years.

Yes P2P is traffic shaped on Sky, but only on the Connect Package, with Plusnet, nearly everything thy offer is shaped. imho, and from reading their packages.

You should be fine for downloading on MAX.
~ Never, ever, argue with an idiot. They'll drag you down to their level and beat you with experience ~

yup it's the pot calling etc etc

NoPluswithbeingwitusNet they are crapest ISP on the planet i'd rather go with a V21 or tiscali than plusnet ( and that's really really scraping the bottom of the barrell)
