Re: Plusnet badmouthing Sky?
Ha! I knew it. Lying sods. That's good info about the traffic shaping on the Connect package, thanks. I have friends considering Connect, so I'll let them know.
To be honest, it's all a bit of a shame about Plusnet. When I first joined them I had no hesitation in declaring them the best in the business to any who'd listen. Customer Support, especially technical advice, was second-to-none. It's been steadily downhill ever since. I'm glad to be rid now.

Re: Plusnet badmouthing Sky?
All information from a CSC analyst, indeed any of our colleagues, should be accurate.
I know the analyst involved in this retention well. She is experienced, honest, reliable and very good at her job.
I am in no way saying that the person referred to by Ged is mistaken, but there are two sides to every story.
I will follow this one up tomorrow, but I will point out that no-one in this business is told to nor encouraged to lie to anyone and based on my knowledge of the analyst concerned I would find it hard to believe that she lied to anyone.

Re: Plusnet badmouthing Sky?
lol, you aint heard the best 1 yet..
when I gave Bulldog my 30 days notice they put me over to Pipex retentions team, the girl asked "Who are you going to" of which I replied "Sky on thier max package" of which I was told this whopper.. "oh really, they are really strict on their limits, in fact, You are NOT allowed to download anything at night" at that point I burst out laughing at her pointing out she was talking [cough, ahem] and that I have a mate who works for Sky, she was like fine, told me my connection would get cut off in three days and hung up..
Jeez they will say anything to keep you in my view..□□□ Powered by Sky Broadband Unlimited □□□

Re: Plusnet badmouthing Sky?
Hi,
To clarify what I was told on Sunday morning, I was not mistaken in anything I was told by Plusnet's retention agent; she did indeed tell me that I would only receive p2p download speeds of 0.2 meg, and that, "this is the reason Sky offers such a large usage cap."
However. She does have a get-out in this. My exchange was only enabled by Sky last week, and if she was not aware of this, then she may have assumed that the Connect package (which Sky does indeed throttle on p2p) was the only one available to me.

Re: Plusnet badmouthing Sky?
I think she may of been getting confused with Plusnet's own policies. Plusnet as an ISP is a complete joke. When I finally escaped from them it was like being set free, my internet actually started working again.
I had a lot of problems with Sky as in it didn't come on for well over a month. It actually came on after I requested a MAC and managed to use it for a few days before I moved over to BE. In fairness to Sky I opted for the MAX package and it was very fast. I also noticed P2P worked very well.
I think I was just unlucky when I signed up as a few of my mates love it. I might actually come back to Sky soon as I'm on a monthly contract with BE and I'm only getting the same speeds with BE.
