      Need really basic port help

I have searched the forums but even that is too technical for me. I have a laptop, sky broadband wireless , windows xp and Norton Internet security. I want to forward my port for use with Utorrent. I have followed al the guides but even they are beyond me. I cant even work out how to give myself a static ip address. What Im after is someone with patientce that can explain it to me in Janet and John level. I mean really really basic. Dont worry about insulting my intelligence, it would appear I have none. If I can get this to work Im going to give it to next doors 6 year old who probably will understand it. Many thanks in advance.
