Using Azureus (router syncing at around 9000-10,000 kbps)on well seeded torrents have been getting downloads of upwards of 500kB/s and on some occasions 800 - 900!)

rarely get over 300 KB if that. probably more to do with the swarms I join rather than the connection.

      Re: what speeds...torrent downloads?

I use to use torrents and got fed up of the appalling speeds.

A friend suggested using newsgroups. I have never looked back. You have to pay to get access to the servers but for 8 a month unlimited downloads and speeds that max my connection out i'm not complaining.

My connection is usually around 4.8 meg and when using newsgroup it downloads at 480 k occasionally I connect faster and my downloads increase.

This is the guide I used to get to grips with it all.

Slyck's Guide to The Newsgroups - Intro

Any questions about it 'll be happy to help just pm me.

And no i'm not on any commission or incentive, just sharing the knowledge.

      Re: what speeds...torrent downloads?

WOW!!! people are getting between 300k to 1.5mb downloads on utorrent! that is amazing

i have tried every tweak and dnt get anywhere near that for movies. i managed to get 380k downloading a 60 video clip.

is there anything i can do to get 500+....if i was to get 1.5mb i'd pass out!

      Re: what speeds...torrent downloads?

Do you use public or private trackers?

I ask only because, I never come close to this on public trackers, where as priviate trackers allow me to max out my connection easily
