Was your upgrade done under the Thomson replacement scheme? If so it should replace the Thomson, but I understand Sky do not require a box to be returned. It has also been said that Thomson boxes will cease to function in July. I don't know if this is true or not.

Who initiated the upgrade, you or Sky? Did you pay for it?

I would hold on to the old box for six months. If you do not get any communication from Sky in that time about returning it you can dispose of it as you see fit.

      Re: Returning sky+ HD box

I think it is your second box that is being replaced, not your 890. Sky are replacing all Thomson boxes, including non-HD ones.
