Re: Interested in a free sky + box
I have recently done this with my sister and am awaiting my letter to arrange getting my Sky Plus box installed.
Can anyone confirm whether we can get away without having to pay the £60 installation fee if we lay the new cable/LNB ourselves.
I have all the cabling/F connectors/Sat meter already for an 80cm dish I have in the garden.
Got a baby on the way so if I don't have to pay this it would be most useful.

Re: Interested in a free sky + box
the new customer pays £30 connection fee with box and instalation free unless weekend or extra long cable lay and additional brackets are required
exsisting customer has to pay £60 standard instalation and extra if any of the above come into play
so as a valued customer who gives sky extra revenue from your friend you get scr#wed for £60
sky will not let you do instalations yourself this would invalidate any warranty

Re: Interested in a free sky + box
Can I just ask....will a sky+ box work from just the standard single feed?
If so could you not just ask for the box & use it this way to get out of paying the installation fee?

Re: Interested in a free sky + box
ttt defeats the purpose of getting sky+ the idea is get one channel to view whilst recording another, or record two whilst watching something previously recorded or whilst not watching tv
so 2 feeds are a must and sky wont give away a box without getting atleast £60 for so called instalation

Re: Interested in a free sky + box
Hi,
Yeah I know it defeats the purpose of sky + but I just wanted to know if it would work.
If it would I think I could have a very good argument for them just to supply the box without any instillation!
If you put a sky+ box onto a standard (1 feed) system I assume it would give you the ability to record the channel that you were watching?
I can see no mention in the terms & conditions of you having to have your system upgraded to have a sky+ box.
This is a point of principal on my behalf!
I hate the fact that companies are allowed to offer free gifts that end up costing you money
I don’t think me or you could get away with it….without an appearance on rogue traders!

Re: Interested in a free sky + box
I am trying to sign up to Sky over the next few days. I called them the first time and spoke to a guy who wasn't very helpfull with the offers they have on at the moment. My father in law signed up in Nov 07 and was told there was no special offer for Sky+ and he said he would wait till an offer came out, they then called back with a free box offer.
I am trying to do the same today. my gf called again and they offered her a Sky+ box for 49 pounds and 6 mixes for 21 per month. They are calling back tomorrow. Do many new customers get a free Sky+ box, does it depend who you talk to? How does it all work lol.
