Nice story, t there is no substance to the story, just a claim about scam letters to the elderly.

Sure it shows just how many letters are being sent with a huge frequency and that they demand payment be made soon, but it doesn't say anything about why they are allegedly being sent and what the actual circumstances are.

Sky should be ashamed of their poor, unclear advertising in regard to Now TV. Putting the technical problems aside, this does not excuse their ambiguously (is that a word) worded advertising that certainly misled me as to the service I would be getting and the material that would be available. Yet again half ars*d system designed to screw as much money from people as possible for as little investment as possible. The illegal options win again, not because they are free but because they are convenient.

I am a bit lost as to where the scam is. Letters are being sent to households who don't have a TV licence, what's the scam about that? If you have a TV and don't pay a licence you are likely to be taken to court and fined. Its no scam. Over 10% of Magistrates court cases in England were for non-payment of TV licences. Although you can't be jailed for not paying a TV licence, you can for not paying any fine imposed. The elderly, over 75, are entitled to a free licence, I didn't hear that mentioned.

What you have mentioned there Tom are some of the potential facts which are missing from that video.

I am aware that TV Licensing do send heavy handed letters to people who don't have licenses. They've also sent people to search homes when the occupant has refused to pay. The people I am thinking of specifically don't have a TV or one that is set up to allow them to watch live TV.

As for the elderly, there is an issue here. If the TVL records do not show that the occupant is over 75 or the person fails to renew their free license, then I am sure that TV Licensing will write those aggressive letters.

TVL use the law. The TV License payment system is fixed by an Act of Parliament. If you don't pay according to the defined terms they get nasty.
