Leaving Sky and all done and dusted before 7 AM!
Well today is the day that my TV package expires (still on at the moment), and I officially move from Sky Talk & Fibre to Plusnet.
Much to my surprise my switch went through before 7 this morning with my confirmation emails from Plusnet coming through at 6.40! Although it is worth pointing out that Sky disconnected my phone line (or whatever they do, at about 7 PM yesterday evening.
Early speed tests (wireless) are encouraging although upload is slightly lower than with Sky:
So that's me done for now, you never know I may come back to Sky eventually, but today I'm off to the shops to buy a new PVR.

The speed should sort it self out soon enough.
Do you know what the actual connection stats are?

Re: Leaving Sky and all done and dusted before 7 AM!
Saturday is my big day when my TV package is switched off.
I already have a Humax freesat pvr ready and waiting.
I am keeping sky fibre for the moment as it has never let me down.

Re: Leaving Sky and all done and dusted before 7 AM!
That's the one thing I would agree with, my Sky Fibre connection (and ADSL before it), has always been solid.
But at £5.01 a month cheaper, the option to pay 12 months line rental in advance and £130 cashback, moving to Plusnet was too good an opportunity to turn down. As I rarely download much I am hopeful the connection will be just as reliable for our family needs.
I was about to buy a "Grade A" Humax box (I even changed my profile!), but they went out of stock of the 500GB model (£129). Just waiting for it to come back.

Re: Leaving Sky and all done and dusted before 7 AM!
I purchased the 500Gb model and as soon as my sky box dies, the 2TB drive I put in it will come out and go inside the Humax.

A-ha!
We will stick with the 500GB as the 2TB is going round the Mother & Father in laws, a small price to pay for the use of their spare SkyGo login...

Moi?
To be honest we will probably only use it for the odd game or movie to keep the kids quiet on a rainy day, no worse really than popping round there to watch it. Although as we know, other avenues are available for live sports etc. and you can actually get a better picture through ustream than on SkyGo!
On a side note, I've been using the Plusnet supplied Technicolour all day and haven't yet plugged my Airport Extreme in and it may be a slight placebo effect but things seem to be running much smoother through the network than they did with SR101.
Zero buffering when streaming to my Apple TV which did occasionally happen with the Sky Hub. Still haven't worked out where the connection stats are though..Last edited by stereohaven; 14-08-14 at 05:22 PM. Reason: added stuff...

Good to hear that everything is running smoothly.
It sounds like the QoS settings are a little better for the Apple TV perhaps.
