Can you cancel sky broadband after a week?
Guys, just signed upto sky broadband, what I'm wondering is, is there a clause in the contract somewhere that if I'm not happy with it I can leave?

Re: Can you cancel sky broadband after a week?
There is a ten day cooling off period in which you can cancel which runs from the date your order is placed. There is also a 30 day Broadband and Talk Satisfaction Guarantee which runs from the day your service is activated. There are some terms associated with this guarantee but basically it allows you to leave the contract without penalty if the product does not meet the quality as described when the order was placed provided you work with Sky by following any instructions given in an attempt to improve the situation.

Re: Can you cancel sky broadband after a week?
Yep.
Essentially you will have been provided an estimated speed. If this isn't achieved or the service is unacceptable (i.e. unstable connection) and you have provided Sky/BTO sufficient access in order to fix things, then you can cancel within 30 days of the installation.
This is the same for all ISPs.
Edit: Seawright got there first.

Re: Can you cancel sky broadband after a week?
Ok thanks guys, at least within the ten days if service is still like this then I will give them a call, I was informed all new lines start with a 4mb speed so I should stop worrying a little, I just thought it would be a little quick if I was getting a solid 15mb with talk talk

Re: Can you cancel sky broadband after a week?
You should have received some correspondence from Sky which would have explained a little about the initial DLM process. Once complete you should have a good connection speed.
Please click the 'Tool & Tutorials' button above and try the 'ADSL2 Line Speed Checker'. It should give you a clear idea on what to expect.

Re: Can you cancel sky broadband after a week?
BT ADSL broadband availability
You are connected to the Whitburn telephone exchange.
ADSL is available in your area
Your exchange is also enabled for ADSL Max services
Your exchange is also enabled for ADSL2+ services
According to BT Wholesale, your phone line should be able to support a 1Mbps or greater ADSL connection.
Standard ADSL RAG results
You cannot receive 2Mbps ADSL
You may be able to receive 1Mbps ADSL
You may be able to receive 512kbps ADSL
(Engineer visit likely)
You may be able to receive 256kbps ADSL
(Engineer visit likely)
However, there is another service on your phone line (e.g. ADSL, LLU, DACS, etc) that would prevent you from ordering a new ADSL connection.
» Your BT ADSL code is: AEAEAEC
» Matched result using the phone you provided
these stats have changed since I have changed from talk talk to sky because it used to say upto 20mb now only 1mb and I regularly checked these stats to check when fibre would be in my area and its changed to "fibre is coming to your area but no date yet" along those lines, what the hell is going on??!!

Re: Can you cancel sky broadband after a week?
Using the 21dB figure in your stats I get the following:
We estimate your line is capable of between 16mb to 24mb broadband on an ADSL2+ service.
Please ignore what the BT figures are.

Re: Can you cancel sky broadband after a week?
Is it normal for my stats to change when I only checked a few weeks ago that it said 16 to 24mb now only to be best "1mb"?

Re: Can you cancel sky broadband after a week?
Looking at the Stats which you posted above 16-24mb is what I got. In practise I would suggest that 17-19mb would be a better target range, but we shall have to wait for the DLM process to complete.
