      New Phone line delay

      Hi

I've just ordered sky for a flat I am moving into in the next few days. There is already a phone line installed in the house (connected) but for some reason the Sky website can only offer me January 13th for an install.

      Why on earth is this?!
Surely if the line is all wired up its just the case of enabling it electronically?! Surely?!

I've tried signing up to BT as a tester and they say the line can be set up December 21st. Slightly better but beyond ridiculous!

Anyone else had the same issue?

      Ben

How typical! Priority customer service to BT Retail.

Sky, along with all the call providers, have to book the services of a BT Openreach Engineer. Because of the bad weather during the early Summer months they are still behind on a lot of work and sadly such lengthy waiting times have already been recorded in this forum and many others.

Ofcom are the toothless regulator to ensure that this kind of thing doesn't happen, yet it continues.

Might you know why an engineer would be needed though?
There is a physical line to the property. I can see it!

Don't think I can survive without BB for 7 weeks! Majorly annoyed.

It is standard practise for BTO to physically check a line which not been used for more than 12 months.

Also the BTO Engineer will need to change the connections within the telephone exchange from where ever they were previously to Sky's equipment.

      Re: New Phone line delay

The last tenant that moved out 10 days ago had Sky broadband and phone.

Ill see what the TV install engineer has to say about it then call sky again!

If you happen to have a Sky router, you may find that the broadband is still active then.

      This.

Sometimes sky only do a partial disconnection. As long as sky have not allocated the previous customers port number chances are the broadband will still work. Sky will deny it can happen but it does.
