UK ISP Plusnet Comes Top in Cable’s New Broadband Awards 2015

UK ISP Plusnet Comes Top in Cable's New Broadband Awards 2015 - ISPreview UK
Comparison site Cable.co.uk has announced the winners of their inaugural Broadband Awards 2015, which saw Plusnet grab more wins across different categories than any other ISP. But there were also some wins in different areas for Virgin Media, Sky Broadband, Zen Internet and a few other providers.

Most of the awards were chosen by Cable.co.uk itself, although to balance that out they also included a number of awards that were chosen via a survey of 6,000 broadband consumers in the United Kingdom and this is where most of Plusnet’s wins were secured. It’s worth pointing out that TalkTalk was ranked bottom for almost all of the reader choice awards.

Sadly we don’t get a clear statistical breakdown of the results or much context on how some of the awards were chosen, but here’s a brief summary of the primary results.

What....the SR102 did not win the best equipment award?

      I'm truly shocked!

I guess that if Sky wish to improve their score that they'll need to work much harder over the next 12 months.

Seriously though, out of 15 awards, Sky managed to win just one. Plusnet and Virgin won five each.

Whilst this is better than TalkTalk and BT Retail who didn't win anything, I would suggest that there is room for much improvement from Sky.

Perhaps with tomorrow's news Sky will be better placed for one or two of the awards. We wait with baited breath.

Previous ADSL2+ Speed 19999 kbps 1153 kbps, Line Attenuation 17.5 db 6.9 db, Noise Margin 7.5 dB 8.7 dB
      Speedtest: 17.15MB/s 0.97Mb/s Ping 31 ms

This may give some better background as to where sky stood against its rivals.
This describes the results in full on the cable.co.uk website
      https://www.cable.co.uk/awards/broadband/2015/

Looks like that cable site is one of those comparison websites, so Plusnet probably have shares or bribed them, LOL.

You mean a bit like insurance comparison websites?

Confused.comowned by Admiral. Yes, that Admiral. They also own elephant.co.uk, Bell Direct andDiamond, the womens car insurance specialist.
GoCompare are “independent” but have received a £30m loan from esure. If they can’t pay esure back in cash, esure become a major shareholder. That’s according to the Insurance Times.
Compare the Market is owned by Budget. This one is a bit naughty, as all of the brands quoted are Budget group companies – but they don’t make that obvious – they also own Dial Direct, “Local Broker“,ibuyeco, Quote Mart, and Junction who run the insurance arms of the Post Office, Marks and Spencer, Debenhams, Bradford & Bingley, Homebase and yesinsurance.com.

Oh it's the SkyQ thang.... no thanks Sky, paying you too much already and I won't be buying 4K TV's anytime soon either, HD is just fine for me and SWMBO swears she cannot tell the difference between SD and HD anyway! Actually that's why I married her, her eyesight is appalling. I think she thought I looked like George Clooney.... I wish!
