Government and BT Pilot Brings FREE WiFi to 100 Public Libraries - ISPreview UK
The Government appears to be carrying out its £7.4 million funding commitment for public libraries in England (March 2015 Budget), which pledged to “support libraries” by providing them with Internet access and WiFi connectivity.
Apparently BT and Barclays are launching the related pilot scheme today with 100 libraries and community centres across the country. The scheme is set to run for two years and will also ask both companies to help provide digital support to those who need it.
The Digital Economy Minister, Ed Vaizey, is officially launching the pilot at Nunhead Library in Southwark (London) today. It’s likely that the number of libraries will be extended, albeit at a later date.
