Question SSD Drive In USB Hard Drive Enclosure

I was wondering if anybody has ever tried installing a SSD Drive into a USB Hard Drive Enclosure to use it as a USB drive. If you have do you have to install the drivers, which came with the drive in order for it to work on your system or does Windows automatically detect it as a external hard drive?

The enclosure has circuitry that should be detected, and drive installation should be automatic without manual driver install.

I fitted SSD's in both my desktop PC and Laptop, no drivers were required, but win7 does have some optimazations for SSD's.

Why would you want to put an SSD in a USB enclosure? If it's USB2 you will not see any speed advantage, USB 3 you would though.

I would only reccomend SSD's for boot drives etc. For example both my SSD's are boot drives and the program folders are also on there, but all my user folders and virtual memory files are on normal HDD's. SSD's do have a limited Read/Write lifespan so I limit what gets written to them.
