Re: UPD Virgin Media Invest £1bn in UK Network and Calls Sky Broadband “Lousy”
IMO not one ISP is ever going to be better then the rest, it's all down to personal preference and circumstance, for me Virgin is best for my household as in our area we have fibre to pavement so we have about 6 meters of copper if we had fibre to cabinet that would be about 200 meters as for traffic shaping that has never been a problem in our house and we have......
2x Sky HD box's
1x Sky+ box
3x PC's
1x Playstaion 3
3x Xbox 360's
3x Tablets
1x Notebook
and
8x mobile phone's
all connected to the internet so we do use a lot of traffic,
gaming I have no problems nor do the kids,
BUT for TV our household is better of with Sky so we mix and match to get the best services for what we need.
so I wouldn't say Virgin is better it just happens to be better for our household."To help would be a great adventure"

I have been researching Virgin a lot over the last 7 weeks as that is how long I have been having problems with my fibre.
As far as I can tell Virgin is unlimited on their downloads, it appears to be the upload that is limited if you abuse the limits at peak times.
Thresholds
However I am not quite ready to jump ship yet as the potential for latency issues is putting me off.
I do like to play the odd game ( unfortunately current issues are preventing me from doing so ) so I am hoping that the latest hole Openreach are starting to dig in our street will be the one that restores normal service.

Re: UPD Virgin Media Invest £1bn in UK Network and Calls Sky Broadband “Lousy”
when i eventually move (soon hopefully) i am going to see how my fibre pro performs. atm i hit the max 80/20 with a 7-8ms ping (fast path) but my new house is only estimated to get between 43-60/11-17. if it stays around the 43 mark i will seriously consider moving over as some of VM's packages are cheaper compared to the £100 i give sky now. their FBB service has been brilliant since i first got it back in 2012.
