      Re: Say Hello

Hi all, have looked over this site before and thought it about time I actually joined.
I've used Sky TV since having an Analogue Pace system, (miss those rather "American", "This... is Sky 1" announcements before shows).

Don't have or feel the need to switch my Broadband or Phone to them though, I never like to have too much from one provider.

I started my venture into SkyHD on 23rd December 2008 and it has been rather good (was a bit dissapointing to only catch the last couple of Atlantis episodes... darn those SciFi Executives), I don't hold out a lot of hope for the next Stargate, sounds like a ripoff of some major Sci-Fi shows over the years shoved together, but am enjoying Lost in HD.

My parents have a Thompson HD box, so I'm envious of them with the new EPG, having a Pace one myself.

      Hi everyone,

Guess I must be the newest member at the moment.
I am what you would call a working "Senior" from Yorkshire who is looking froward to using the site.
Its time for me to have a look at all the forums as I am sure I can find some interesting stuff as I have just had Sky + installed and want to get the best out of it and already have a question.

      see you all around

      Hi Everyone,

Thanks to the administrators for the nice welcome e-mail and the welcome message at the bottom of the forum main page.

Well, i'm not that new to sky as my parents have had it for years, but I now have my own house and am enjoying the delights of Sky HD.

Have just had my Sky Max broadband activated but am a little disappointed with the speed considering me being so close to my exchange so i'm actively searching the forums here for good advice to help my speed improve.

      Many thanks and happy watching/surfing

      Re: Say Hello

Hi. I've signed up here having had a Sky+ HD Box since June 2006. I have experienced a number of problems. These seem to have become more frequent.
Most problems can be temporarily resolved by a good old re-boot, but this never resolves the root cause.
A good old rebuild of the planner will recover some space possibly caused by a memory leak or similar, but again, it's short term.
I have worked in IT for 30 years now and a re-boot more than once always signifies a deeper rooted problem.
Phone calls to Customer Services and the Call Centre is just wasted effort. I'm perfectly capable of following a script - But there is no exceptions process!

No I don't want an engineer to fix something that isn't a Hardware problem and I don't want a complete rebuild and lose everything on the off chance that it might work.

I'll publish details about the problems later, but if anybody knows a good software contact at Sky, then please let me know :-)
