      Hi Wayne,

if you start a new thread, someone will be able to advise (on connect there is a 10 day training period, i am not sure of the exact speed but you could have been put on the wrong package by BT as this has happened a few time recently, i am no expert and there are others on the forum who would know for sure)

      Hi all

Just had a big row with Virgin Media, the upshot of which is they are collecting all of their equipment on 28th Feb so I am about to sign up to Sky. In light of this I thought that this would be a great forum to become a member of. So here I am!

      Look forward to contributing.

      Re: Say Hello

Great forum with some essential info for all sky users. Just signed up for Sky TV and MAX yesterday and hope it pans out as one of the "Sky Happiness" stories. Fingers crossed.

I'll have a few questions in due course. Hopefully I'll get a chance to post a bit later.

      Re: Say Hello

      Hi All,
Just joined the site, was activated on max this morning (before about 8am, and this was the date they originally gave), so far so good! Have changed ISP from Toucan who were very slow (around 800K on the 8Mb service, eventually they got it to about 3Mb), and with appalling customer service. So far I'm getting around 6Mb this morning, although it's down to around 3.5 this evening...we'll see what happens!

Have ended up with the Sagem, which seems ok but very limited. I was running a Linksys WAG354G before, with an Apache server behind it which was great - not sure if the server is working with the Sagem, as I can't access it locally using its URL - Weather in Polmont (just goes to my router login page), although it's fine if I use its local IP address. I use DynDNS for the DNS routing, and that is updating OK, and I have forwarded port 80. I've also tried all port forwarding, and DMZ, but I still can't use its URL locally without just getting the Sagem login page! I had this before with Toucan, which is why I ended up with the 354G which solved the whole port forwarding and server problem, but as Sky don't issue usernames & passwords, I guess I'm stuck with the Sagem for now...

It will be interesting to see how it goes with the speeds, and the server access...in the meantime, at least it's up and running :-)

      Steve

      Re: Say Hello

The station is based in the village of Polmont, on the eastern outskirts of Falkirk, mid way between Edinburgh and Glasgow, 3 miles south of the Firth of Forth.
Works fine for me Welcome aboard.
