      Hi and hello
Just joined Sky Broadband, had their sat tv for years.

Used to be with Freeola, but as they charged 25 per month for broadband, decided to change to Sky Mid package.

Love computers, write software for a living, and started with computers way back in the mid 70's ( ICL 1903 stuff ).

Married, with 2 dogs, more reliable than children, I have one aged 33. So as you see I'm getting on a bit.

Live in Middleton, North Manchester, born Rochdale home of the co-op.

Any way - thats me done.

      Regards

      Granville

      Re: Say Hello

      hey
am a mum / dad rolled into one 53 yrs and counting
kids grown doing their thing while i continue to try to find employment
got into pcs when my brother gave the kids a hand me down having sworn never to touch the things after being confronted with one in the early 80's
all beeps and zoom - not my thing

then while trying to unravel the thing and get it up and working after memory tie ups i found GRAphics Wow

been hooked ever since did the HND despite the blue meanies having me do the slog for them in 2002 when info on advanced server not really available and then getting me thrown out of college on the last day - finally got the final module elsewhere despite them and have slightly fallen behind on the whole PSP thing which keep meaning to catch up on but..

signed up with SKY after trouble with BT
what a palaver and plethora of mininformation - got a MAC despite the BT call operator from hell wearing it would be over his dead body
presented it to SKY who applied but BT rejected
      what a mess
SKY said because i had already got my modem i couldnt migrate with MAC
they said i had to get BT to remove tags
      BT said not
two months later and a good 30 hours of calls finally have got SKY BB and with your help got the wireless up and running
since neither BT tech support nor SKY tech support call centres seem to have much clue have written something up which wil post
for anyones' info - you do not have to get tags removed just get another MAC code
if they say not possible for another month pleaase know this is garbage
fortunately for the myriad of techs support who know nothing much there are the occasional ones who know a great deal thanks be to your god
personally as per college experience i reckon i know exactly why this is
fortunately the it comunity is a lot friendlier
and boy the info available these days is fantastic!!
      nice to meet you all

      Re: Say Hello

      Howdy,

Have been with Sky since August this year (2 mix, BB Max, Talk) having preiously been with the shockingly bad Virgin.

Moved house last week, encountering the rudest engineer ever to install my new dish, nd once had finsihed illing and repainting the walls after he had finished wth his staple gun, he tv is up and running.

Annoyed that Im having to wait until the 20th from my BB to be activated again, but this time I'm only 700m from the exchange, so I'm hoping for faster speeds!

Apar from that, have been very happy with Sky - wish Sports was cheaper (can't really justify it) and looking forward to the free weekend!!

      Re: Say Hello

Greetings from Sunny Bolton. Just waiting for my mid package after finally deciding it was worth taking the gamble for a 5 a month broadband service as it seems to be working. Will tell you more in a couple of week

getting the works with sky in a couple of weeks once my bt line's activated, quite excited!

if anyone here's from lenton and on the Basford exchange then would appreciate a comment on the speeds they get, we're going for the max package.

      thanks

      Re: Say Hello

      Hi all,

I've been with Sky for over 7 years and recently got their broadband and phone packages. I'm not too happy with broadband, I got the MAX package but after a few weeks of use I hate the fact that the router keeps failing over. My other ISP (plusNet and my own netgear router) never dropped.

Enough moaning, I'll post in other forums :-)

I work in IT and am single so could go about and spend loads on a new 46" HD TV, Sky HD and even built my own media server and bought an upscaling media streamer. A friend at work got me into all this new media stuff so I blame him on all my current spending :-)

      Anyway, great forum!

      Regards
      Ramesh.
