Hello, I signed up to get help splitting my sky dish cable to allow freesat on my tv without having to unplug from my sky box and plug into my telly.
I have the basic sky TV but have ** broadband (better not swear on the forum).

      Re: Say Hello

      Welcome to the forum.

It's not as simple as fitting a 'splitter' as per a normal aerial, there are control voltages and signals sent to the LNB from the receiver.

Currently you have two leads coming from the dish, this allows the Sky receiver to record one whilst watching another or viewing the TV guide. You need to fit a quad LNB in place of the existing dual LNB, and run an extra cable or pair of cables if your freesat receiver has two LNB inputs. There are other ways of doing it but it then involves distribution systems that will work out a lot more expensive. If you were really lucky when your Sky dish was installed you may already have a quad LNB, I know I have but that's because they did not have any dual LNB's available on that day!

      Re: Say Hello

Hello Bernie15 and welcome to the forum. As this is the "Say Hello" thread could you start a new thread to post your question. It would also be useful if you could include details of your current setup.

As to the identity of your broadband provider updating "Broadband ISP" in your profile to "other" would help to avoid confusion.

edit: Beaten to reply by Marjohn but if you require any further information my previous comments apply.

Perhaps get a mod to edit and move per chance?

Sorry about that Seawright. I'm new to forums so a little confused as to how to go about it. I will take on board what you have said and will be more diligent in future.

      Re: Say Hello

Thank you for that info. If I have any other queries I will post a new thread. Perhaps it would be better if I first found out what LNB I currently have before I go headlong into a mine field.
