      Re: Say Hello

      Hi,
I am Paul and am returning back to Sky after a few years without. My install is this week and I am hoping my viewing card turns up by my installation date of 22nd December (or at least by Christmas)...
I work in IT, and have run in all the internal cables ready for my new SkyHD+ box (HDMI, Ethernet, SPDIF audio and phone line) to the corner where the box will sit, all are connected at the TV/Router/Amp/Phone line end ready for the Sky box just to be plugged in.

BTW, I am having my phone line switched to Sky tomorrow (actually today now as it is past midnight), and having my broadband moved to Sky at the same time (wish me luck!!)

I hope to be of some help in the forums...
      Paul

      Re: Say Hello

Hi My name is Jon (jonb52). I and my family have been with sky for a few years now... mostly happy, but starting to look for cheaper alternatives.

Also got hold of a second Sky+ box, so my eldest son can record from his room... only to find that all 4 connections on the dish are in use (2 to sky+ and 1 to each of my boys)... anybody know any solutions, to get another connection, to change one of these from sky to sky+?

      Hope this forum can help
      Cheers!

You need to fit an octo LNB, or have one fitted by a specialist. - Something like this- Sky Octo LNB for Sky Mini Dish (8 Outputs) | SATandCABLE

      TomD

      Re: Say Hello

Hi All. I've just joined as I need to apply some restrictions to my SkyBB. I'm a 47 year old father of two fledgling teenage daughters. I know a little about wireless networking but have never used a D-Link router before. No doubt I shall ask questions and I cannot guarantee that some will not be real noobie stuff. Up until recently I've always used Netgear routers on various ISPs so this is my first experience of Sky.
I know they can be dodgy and my first question is: If I press the reset button on the back of the D-Link router will it completely blitz my connection or, like most routers, just reset my login password to factory default? I don't recall changing it from admin - sky but I am unable to access it using these.
Thank you for reading this and any help you all offer will be received with the upmost gratitude.

hello fellow forum users, i am joe blogs - nothing spectacular when it comes to the world of electronics but hugely grateful for the input that people so far have made into this forum - its a superb resource to sort out the quirks of sky!!

special thanks to the skyuser smtp - a facility to let the world know that even though you change ISP - you can still be who you are! and not converted or god forbid assimilated into the sky user email base!

keep up the good work and look forward to using this forum over the tenure of my sky contract.

      dozi.

hello, when doing a 20 second reset it resets all to defaults as you got it, so it should be admin and sky. it wont mess with you connecting to sky broadband though

Hello, been using sky for years, just took up their HD+Broadband and fell foul of the smtp debacle. Found that this excellent site :-) offers hope!

      Re: Say Hello

      Hi,

I came across this site completely by accident whilst looking for a solution to a little query I've got. Hopefully I can get the answers I need!

I've been a Sky user for many years but have recently moved to a new house and have taken one of Sky's many "all in" packages where they provide my TV, broadband and phone.
