      Leaving Sky.

Well folks it's been a blast, sorta. I've been with Sky ever since they bought out British Satellite Broadcasting. I have had their broadband since it's inception. In my opinion their telly is rubbish and stupidly expensive and most of what Sky broadcast I can get on Freeview, Freesat and the web. I did stop their telly a long time ago but I stayed with the broadband from the start. Unfortunately partly due to a broken promise made by Sky about a free upgrade that was renaged on but mostly because of the price I have now taken a new subscription with Plusnet. To be fair to Sky their broadband, for me, has been faultless. I pay 40 odd quid a month to Sky for 30Mb down and 10 up plus line rental and calls. Plusnet are doing the same package for 26 quid odd a month for 18 months. So I'm off to them. It does go up after the 18 months but there are other providers who want will want my custom. It's been a good Forum although recently it has fallen into, more or less, dissuse. Most of the queries these days are very technical and generally about trying to use different routers because, it seems, that, for a lot of people, the router that Sky provides just does not cut it. I didn't find that in all honesty but then I am purely an entertainment web user. I didn't like the way that Sky tied us to their router but as it all worked I chose not to do anything about it. To replace Sky's router always seemed to be a huge hassle.

Anyway I'm off for now. We shall see how that goes. Thanks for the help you have provided over the years. Byee.

      Re: Leaving Sky.

My contract is up in a couple of weeks and me and the family are thinking of moving to another provider we pay £80mth and only got the normal HD box no extra's boxes all channels apart from sport i also have to pay line rental and 60mb fibra...Wifi is crap bought the sky q hub thinking it would be better
....By the way had no problems from the internet side of things....
Been with them 13yrs and only got one normal box when we first started sky then paid for all the other boxes with have had over the years off of ebay.
If we don't go we where thinking of getting rid of all the TV stuff and just use freeview, Netflix, and amazon prime which we have and just keep the broadband that should save us quite a bit of money.
was also thinking of Plusnet i am already with them i have a sim-only deal which i have had since they took over Life Mobile about 4yrs ago and still get 4gb data 3000mins 3000 text for £1mth got it on a hotukdeal.
Anyway Good luck Pete hope all turns out well for you.

Thank you for that. I might be back if Plusnet isn't any good. We shall see.

      Farewell @pete.i

often flirted with the idea of Plusnet over the years myself, but not sure it’s “what it was” nowadays

      but then again, what is?!?!
